How Volkswagen’s Carbon Capture System Works
VW’s first patent outlines a three-stage air filtration process designed to efficiently absorb CO₂ from factory emissions. The system consists of:
- A pre-conditioner – Adjusts the pressure and temperature of incoming air for optimal CO2 capture.
- An air dryer – Removes moisture using materials like zeolite and silica gel.
- A CO₂ absorption unit – Captures and stores CO₂ in a form that can be repurposed later.
