Volkswagen ID.EVERY1 Is The Perfect Name For The People’s Electric Car

The German automaker has trademarked a new term that seems perfect for its new EV for the masses.

Volkswagen has filed a new trademark at the European Union Intellectual Property Office for the name ‘ID. EVERY1.’ The nomenclature is somewhat familiar, as the prefix is used on all VW’s current electric vehicles. However, with the exception of the ID. BUZZ electric van, other Volkswagen EVs have received a number to denominate their position in the lineup, not a word. So what is VW cooking up? We have two possible theories.

A New Campaign Makes The Most Sense

This term sounds like the kind of thing that would be used in a tagline or slogan, potentially as a means of indicating that VW is producing electric vehicles for all sorts of customers with all sorts of requirements from their vehicles. That’s the most obvious and the most likely theory. But what if this name is meant for a specific vehicle?

But A New Campaign Needs A New Vehicle

A vehicle with the ID. EVERY1 badge would have to be quite spacious to live up to its name, and we don’t see a burgeoning market for all-electric seven-seaters. That brings us back to the idea of a slogan. If VW intends to keep using the same naming strategy, this may be a slogan for an ad campaign associated with the ID.1.

What is the ID.1? A supermini city car meant to slot in below the ID.2, which is intended to replace the Golf. The ID.1 is effectively the next electric VW Polo, and with an expected starting price of around £17,000/$21,000. We previously unearthed the name N!ce which could be used for this model.

With that in mind, we suspect that the newly registered trademark is meant to imply that the remarkably low price of the ID.1 makes it accessible to everyone.
